The Mud Man Cometh

January 9, 2011

The walls are another step closer to being finished. With help from a professional, the drywall is taped and mudded. He made it look easy.

The walls look smooth and crisp, a contrast to the rough old plaster.

Crisp Drywall

We hope to have the project be a study in contrasts between old/new, crisp/patina. Our goal is to preserve and highlight the orignal features of the building.  Let the new stuff be new, the old stuff be old.

Old and New

My next project is to refinish the steel door and the oak frame. It isn’t really critical to have the door complete before we move in, but it is a messy task that would be better done before we move our stuff into the space. The To Do list is getting shorter and more particular. This is the stuff we will end up seeing everyday.

I should also mention we  passed our screw inspection. I’ll leave that at that.

It would have taken us a month and it still wouldn’t have looked as good!
