Cold Water

Last night Sue & I went down to BAB to drop off some more closet system hardware, and just to check in on our water leaks. While we figured that any buildup of sleet or snow on the roof would stay frozen (it was about 16 degrees outside), we were concerned that the rain we got a day earlier may have filled our buckets.

Our two big containers at the back corner of our second floor were pretty full. The quickest way to empty these large containers is to drop the water pump in them and just pump it out – but these are pretty far away from the bathroom drain, so with these guys we just throw open the closest window sash and lower the hose down to the alley, and the water flows down the alley to the storm drain.

Our water - out the window to the alley, down to the storm drain.

We were both leaning out the window wondering if we would be creating a hazard for neighbors that use the alley – it was surely going to be frozen pretty quickly.

Sue said: “Well – at least it’s water going OUT of the building!”

You need more leaks so you can create an ice rink for the neighborhood children!

Good plan. Better than having it migrate down to your new apartment. About time to move in….??

We are waiting on Ameren to install a new electric meter; from that point it’s 2 to 3 weeks until we get occupancy permit!
