What we’ve been up to
It has been a while since we did a post. We can tell because we keep hearing about it from folks! Sorry about that, guys! We have been busy but we didn’t think that what we’ve been up to has been very post-worthy. Mostly, we’ve been digging through piles of boxes we packed over a year ago, trying to find our stuff. We’ve been living with piles of broken down cardboard and other packing materials. A few other things have been going on, too. Here’s an update.
I’ve been shopping at our favorite resale shops for pieces we need for the new set up. I found a cool medical cabinet at an antique mall a.k.a. indoor flea market. It was locked, with no key, but that doesn’t stop Tom and his lock-pick set.
Tom had a Groupon that was about to expire. He spent a weekend learning how to fly a helicopter. Of course he did. I think we’ve finally found a fast way to get from the South Side to Clayton. The B.A.B. roof could support a heli-pad, right?
I spent a few days in Los Angeles. The downtown is being redeveloped with housing, museums, shops and a beautiful church by Moneo. I also got to spend some quality time on the USC campus with some amazing people. Unfortunately, the public library was closed so I didn’t get my library geek fix, but I got to walk through the library’s public gardens and have a great meal at Water Grill. The Disney Concert hall is a must see. It begs to be photographed.
While I was out of town, Tom worked on caulking the shower. We looked at a few glass shower door options last weekend but we be realized we need to get the solid surface trim and salvaged corrugated glass panel in place before door can be fabricated.
This coming week, we are hosting an AIA chapter meeting that is also part of St. Louis Design Week. We’re cleaning up the B.A.B for company and using the deadline as a reason to get the apartment ship-shape. There have also been a couple other good ‘finds’ that are post-worthy, more to come. Mostly, we love living in the place we have been building for the past year. Did I mention that Lucy has boyfriend? More on that later…
Looks like Tom has found a vehicle that he can’t get ticketed for moving at 100mph+! Very cool… I like the helipad idea.
I’m CERTAIN you’ve had MANY times where you haven’t been ticketed for going 100+mph in a non-helicopter vehicle! (Though I will admit it was pretty hard to control!)
You must be refering to my airplane trips… Correct? 🙂
Sure. Yep. Uh-huh.
only amatuer’s use tape when caulking !!!
