Project with Silkscreen Frames

This project is one of the parts of the apartment that we left incomplete when we moved in. We did this in the summer (note the different attire from the previous post) but are just now getting around to writing the post.

The face of the loft had the structure exposed. We knew we wanted to do something decorative, at some point. It took us a while to decide what we wanted to do. As usual, we knew we wanted to make something out of found objects.

Fortunately, we have stacks of silkscreen frames around from the printing business.

We used some frames for the exhibits we had up at the big party

We gathered them up, including a number of broken ones, and realized there are many different marks and colors on them.

The sign company reused the frames so there are layers of colored ink all over the frames

We sorted through the frames and selected the interesting pieces.

We tried a small section to see how it looked

We then did a full size layout on the floor in the shop. Yes, we have room for that!

So creative – love to see what’s going on at your place.
