Is this a thing?
Before we started this recent flurry of activity, I decided to get some new work boots. Actually, I didn’t have old work boots, I would use retired running shoes, which aren’t the best foot protection for heavy work. I did what I always do when I need shoes- I went to DSW. I found work boots in the men’s aisle but the smallest size was still too big for me.

This is what I found in the women’s boot aisle. It comes with a convenient zippered pocket for your favorite job site lipstick.
I texted this photo to Tom to suggest this is how we could chip the pitch off the concrete. He didn’t think that was funny. Don’t get me wrong- I have plenty of cute, stupid shoes, but I really don’t get this look. Is this supposed to be ironic? Work boots that you can barely walk in, let alone try to use them for work?
A very helpful DSW staffer must have sensed my confusion and came over to help. We found a non-stupid pair of work boots in the clearance section but they were too small. She got on the computer and found a pair in my size at a different store. She called to ask the staff to set them aside for me. She also asked them to honor the clearance pricing- they weren’t on sale at the other location. Awesome! I drove out out to the burbs and found just what I needed.
I didn’t get a photo of them when they were fresh out of the box, but this is what they look like now, with Tom’s more seasoned pair:

Boots at rest
They aren’t steel toed, but they worked out really well.
On the roof front, we had a big rain storm today. NO DRIPS!
But Sue, where do you keep your lipstick? Yeah, NO DRIPS!
In my coordinated purse, of course! You taught me well.
