The BAB is a Poke Stop

Tom was outside this weekend and noticed folks approaching the corner of the BAB and holding up their phones. Then, when he was walking the girls, Tom noticed an unfamiliar guy that was sitting in his car as they passed. The guy rolled down his window and said “Did you know that your place is a Poke Stop?” “Ok, thanks”. Not sure if he should be creeped out or pleased, Tom mentions this new goings on to me to see if I knew what the guy meant. I turned to a twenty-something co-worker and she clued me in.

In a new game, Pokemon Go, we are the home to a little green monster worth 10 points, I think.  As an experiment, we decided that we are going to post a QR code in a window near this virtual monster to link to one of the early history posts. Maybe this new technology might lead someone to learn about some old technology!

That plan failed. Gamers are still staring at their screens for hours, only now they walk among—and into—the rest of us.

I think the purpose of this is to get gamers outdoors and moving instead of staring at their screen for hours. Great idea QR idea. Love your posts Sue.
