Mint Takeover
A while back, we planted some mint. It has grown well and supplied many meals and refreshing beverages. A few times each year, Tom takes a pass over the patch with the lawn mower to keep it in check. This time, it was mowed to level off last year’s remains.

There are nice clumps of new growth.
It is starting to creep down the cracks in the adjoining pavement, but so far, it is contained to the original area.

It is thriving despite the crappy soil and surrounding conditions.
But, mint doesn’t give up that easily.

A runner is going vertical!
Should we be worried?
That looks like a perfect place to grow mint. You’ve got some serious geographic boundaries to keep it contained, and I don’t think its vertical-escape-plan will get it very far. My own patch of mint has escaped its borders and is threatening to overthrow the rest of the yard. I, too, love the way it smells when I mow it – when I’m done with mint juleps, that is. 🙂
Sounds like we should try to make some juleps- just in time for Derby Day!
I’m thinking of the delicious mojito’s you and Tom made for us out of my mint.
Can’t believe that all this lush growth came from from one little 1.50 plant. You can add “green thumbs” among your many talents.
I bet that it smelled nice when you were mowing it, Tom. Love, Mom
That plant is amazing!
