Metal Cabinets

As the drawings are progressing (so slowly), the mechanical and electrical systems area the biggest chuck of work that we need to figure out. We’ve enlisted experts to help, more on that later.

We are still doing inventories of the stuff we’ve ‘collected’ over the years- metal cabinets, doors, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures and many bits of interesting random stuff. Now, we are coming up with ways to use these items. In our apartment project, we were the general contractor, so if we found something interesting, we’d throw it in the truck and work out the installation on our own. Now, we have to give instructions to the professional general contractor, so we need to document how we want things done. We will still do many things on our own, but there are some things that will need to be detailed in the documents. First up, metal cabinets.

We don’t have enough to do the Kitchen Theatre but we have some ideas about how to use what we have left over from the apartment kitchen in smaller arrangements. Mostly, we have wall cabinets, not so many base cabinets. We have a couple small kitchenettes that will use up the base cabinets. This installation will use wall cabinets and will be located in the hallway in our suite between our bedroom and our bathroom. We’ll use it as the linen linen storage.

We’re calling this elevation the Cabinet Collage

We’ll stack the varying sizes of the wall cabinets, floating about 4″ above the floor, leaving some open spaces and ledges for display. We’re not sure if we’ll paint them all the same color or multiple colors. Luckily, that’s not a detail we need to work out in advance.

    A woman’s dream ( at least mine):
    CABINETS!! Can never have enough.
They are great for hiding things.
    Going to look good.
    Thanks for sharing. 💕

Hopefully, we’ll have enough storage here!
