Weird Videos Inside BAB
I installed some security cameras a little over a month ago. Just a simple wireless recorder with two wireless cameras for now. (I plan to get a higher-end system eventually.) I installed each camera inside the building, pointing at the entrances/exits to BAB. The system is set to only record when there’s motion or a scene change, making it easier to sort through potentially hours of video clips for anything important. Generally the clips are about 15 seconds long – because the recorder continues recording for about 12 seconds after the last motion detected. The cameras have infrared to assist in low-light situations, so some clips may look black & white.
So I downloaded a few days’ worth of clips. Most were just Sue & I coming & going, and there were some contractors working on the roof too. But then I started noticing some strange recordings.
Here’s the first one with an odd white thing moving across the screen – pay attention in the first 3 seconds. Pause & rewind as needed.
A simple anomaly at first. Sue & I looked at it and went “Huh… that’s odd.”
Then I found a few more with different oddities. The next one has streaking white bits moving across the screen.
And then more & more, with different floaty things moving in different directions. The next four have a variety of mysterious flying & streaking things. The first in this group looks like it’s raining white stuff. The last in this group has what looks like a swarm of flying white specks. (If you’re bored quickly, feel free to skip these – but scroll down to “BUT NOW FOR SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING…”
So I have some ideas what those videos are; I’ll have to do some testing to confirm.
BUT NOW FOR SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING…
Check out this next video – you’ll see me entering our front door around 10:00pm, after a softball game. Keep your eye on a little white dot near the center of the screen.
Definitely weird, huh? So then, about 35 minutes later, THIS footage is recorded; watch the top of the screen at 3-4 seconds in:
And THEN things get amped up. Two hours later, in the middle of the night, the system sensed movement/scene change and recorded another 15-second clip. Watch, about 3 seconds in, a large ball of light comes from the upper right corner of the video and moves to the center of the screen.
What th’ hell???
And finally, in a non-climactic finish, 12 minutes later, the “ball of light” is recorded making its exit to the top of the screen.
The jury is still out on what these are, but we have certainly been looking “up” a lot more as we go through the front door.
I think these are reflections from cars passing by bab. I have seen similar light moving around in my bedroom ..they often make no sense to me regarding what they are reflecting off of, but I know they are due to cars moving down the street because I can hear them. …
I second the gigantic shiny flying spider theory. 🙂 I am really thankful you did not have this set up when I was working in the building, I would never have gone into your creepy basement.
Hey great to hear from you Franco!
I bet if we put cameras in the creepy basement that we’ll have a lot more than just the flying “orbs”!
Here’s something similar:
WOW, pretty cool stuff. Should we look for the B.A.B. on the ghost show ?
Good luck with whatever it is.
Where is the sensor for the camera ? Maybe move it a little to see what shows up ?
Who knows, maybe we’ll call them if we don’t figure it out.
Hey Tom,
Some of the initial videos look like bugs except for the video that looks like its video taping something that looks like rain.. I have no idea what the heck that is…The stuff that is floating across the screen looks like dust flowing in front of the camera with the light shining on it. Maybe a draft of air from an air conditioner or fan blew it out of the vent or from the top of an hanging light or appliance but.. Those last couple of videos look like orbs which is very cool. You can’t attribute that to much anything else because its obviously is a light source that is moving around (you can especially see it in that last video) in the air. You should setup a sound recorder with the same parameters as the camera (only record when sounds are heard) Do that for a while and you might get a huge surprise… Also, you should increase the time of the video recordings so you can track more of these funky movements. Pretty neat stuff… Who knows, you might get one of those ghost shows to come to the BAB.. 🙂
I bet there is a spider web within the camera’s field of view, and the overhead light is glaring off the spider’s back. The one video of you coming back from softball, he’s crawling up his line to get out of the way. And in the other, he’s tracking across his web.
Hey DBY – Sue is convinced that she’s cleaned away all the spiders – but we’ll give it another check!
You’ll never, NEVER, get rid of all spiders. =)
Very Cool!! Need to keep us up to date on this one 🙂
Are they bugs that are either flying around or crawling on the lens and are too close to the lens to be in focus and are blown out due to light on them?
Hmmmm… maybe bugs crawling on the lens might explain it. Though there are a couple that seem to shoot fast across the screen…
Tom – Good morning. I am not a good sleeper –so, I am often up early catching up on emails, work, etc. And, this week I am dog sitting for an ill friend, so I have two pooches snoring loudly to not make it easy to sleep – so, I am up early – and I just read your posting about the light and hope you figure it out soon, because I am amazed, intrigued and maybe initially a bit creeped out — but the light(s) seem to be kind of happy and flitting around lightheartedly —not hovering ominously – so, I think it is a happy little spirit(s) –
Might you and Sue consider a chapter meeting at BAB in 2014? Maybe springtime? Talk soon, I hope.
